Why should I choose a Money Market Account (MMA) rather than opening a CD?

Unlike a CD, the funds in your MMA are not tied to a specific term so you have easier access to funds. However, Money Market accounts are limited to six (6) withdrawals per month before an excessive withdrawal fee of $10 per transaction is incurred.

Can I make a DEPOSIT or transfer money to a Money Market Account anytime?

Yes. You may can make a deposit anytime to your Money Market Account at any of our branch locations as well as a Credit Union Service Center. You can also transfer funds from any of your accounts with us to your Money Market Account through Online Banking or our Mobile App. There are no limits to the number of deposits made to your MMA in a year.

Can I transfer funds FROM my Money Market Account Online or through The Southern mobile App?

Yes. There are several ways you can transfer funds from your Money Market Account to another share or loan:

Transfer funds in your Online or Mobile Banking

Log into your Online or Mobile Banking, select Move Money from the drop down menu, then select Make Transfer and select appropriate account. There is a limit to the number of transfers to six (6) per month before a $10.00 per transaction fee is incurred.
